About

Everything you need to know about SWRAASA

What is SWRAASA?

It is the Southwest Regional Alcoholics Anonymous Service Assembly.

It is a weekend event (Fri-Sun) held in the Southwest Region of A.A. every two (2) years (even numbered years). NETA65 will be hosting it in 2024 and the dates will be October 11-13, 2024 at the Renaissance Dallas Richardson Hotel. The weekend typically has between 800-1200ppl from 7 states and 11 Areas in the Southwest Region in attendance – people just like you who are interested in learning more about service in A.A. below the group level.

Who Is Hosting SWRAASA 2024?

This assembly is being hosted by the Northeast Texas Area 65 of Alcoholics Anonymous (https://neta65.org) and they have created a Host Committee for this event.

Purpose of Assembly

For those in the Southwest Region of Alcoholics Anonymous to learn and share about the General Service Structure at the Group, District, Area, and Conference levels. It is also to share information on the trusted servant positions within that framework.

General Guidelines

  1. Historically, Southwest Regional AA Service Assembly (SWRAASA) is held on the second weekend in October on even number years.
  2. The SWRAASA is held on a rotational basis. The following is the pattern of rotation by Areas:
    1. Area 04 Arkansas
    2. Area 10 Colorado
    3. Area 25 Kansas
    4. Area 38 Eastern Missouri
    5. Area 39 Western Missouri
    6. Area 46 New Mexico
    7. Area 57 Oklahoma
    8. Area 65 Northeast Texas
    9. Area 66 Northwest Texas
    10. Area 67 Southeast Texas
    11. Area 68 Southwest Texas
  3. The Alternate Delegate has traditionally been the Chairperson for the Area’s Host Committee. Also, the Alternate Delegate of each Area is traditionally the liaison between the Host Committee and their respective Area. The Host Committee will provide minutes to the Southwest Regional (SWR) Alternate Delegates and SWR Trustee at SWRDA and Forum.
  4. The Host Committee is responsible to the Host Area Assembly.
